Oman Cricket: Ganapathy’S Knock Guides Mott Macdonald To Victory

Prasanth Ganapathy’s quickfire unbeaten 65 guided Mott MacDonald to a thrilling five-run victory over Trust Oilfield Services in an Oman Cricket Intermediate Cup Knockout match at Al Amerat recently.

Mott MacDonald amassed 181 for seven in 20 overs, thanks to Ganapathy’s 31-ball knock that included five sixes and Tawsif Tambe’s 47. Trust Oilfield was restricted to 176 for six. Qamar  Nazir and Shahid Mehmood were the main scorers with 58 each.

In another Intermediate Cup match, Al Fairuz rode Saravanan Manickam’s 87 to trounce Fahad Express by six wickets. Batting first, Fahad Express scored 165 for six in 20 overs. Syed Riyas Basha (38 n.o.) and Sooraj Raj (31) were main scorers.

Al Fairuz overhauled the total in 16.3 overs, scoring 169 for four. Manickam's effort was supported by Ranjith Kumar with an unbeaten 37.

Fahad Express 165-6 in 20 overs (Basha 38 n.o., Raj 31; Kamran Farooq 2-19, Zaheer Ahmed 2-29) lost to Al Fairuz 169-4 in 16.3 overs (Manickam 87, Kumar 37 n.o.; Sherin Varghese 2-24).

Junior Cup: Danmark 158-7 in 20 overs (Arsalan Sultan 56, Junaid Iqbal 30; Irtaza Ahmed 2-27, Haja Hussain 2-31) beat Unique Elegant 154-8 in 20 overs (Robin Varghis 41, Haja Hussain 33, Amit Sampat 29; Sultan 2-21, Rajeesh Ravindran 2-36).

Design Group 138-6 in 20 overs (Asgar Majgaonkar 29, Mathankumar 29; Danish Mohd 2-26) lost to Muscat Masters 139-4 in 14.4 overs (Mohd Sarwar 63, Narendra Vandaria 35; Tasleem Rasheed 2-30).
