Oman Beat Nepal in ICC World Cup Cricket League Two Tournament

Oman's international cricket team beat their Nepal counterparts by 18 runs in the ICC World Cup Cricket League Two Tournament at Tribhuvan University Cricket Pitch in Kirtipur. Nepal won the toss and opted to bowl first. Oman's s innings did not get the best of starts and the side was 57 for 5 inside 20 overs. Mohammad Nadeem then played an unbeaten knock of 69 and along with contributions from Sandeep Goud (33) and Nasheen Khusi (28) took their team to 197/9 from their 50 overs. 

For Nepal, medium-pacer Karan KC took four wickets and left-arm spinner Sushan Bhari took three wickets. Nepal skipper Paras Khadka also bowled seven overs for 30. Premier Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane went wicketless in the game. 

Chasing 198 to win, Nepal fell short by 18 runs and were bowled out for 179 in their 47.3 overs. Oman used seven bowlers to defend their target with skipper Zeeshan Maqsood taking 3 for 30 in his spell. Nepal also did not have the best of starts to their chase and were in 73 for 4 inside 23 overs. Despite Sharad Besawkar's defiant 55 of 108 balls, Nepal ended up on the losing side. Sandeep also scored 28 with the bat, but his effort was not enough to take his team to a win. 

The Oman team was given a standing ovation by the crowd at the stadium after the game. 

 

The tournament will run till February 12, with a total of six matches to be played. Nepal, Oman and USA will play the triangular series. Each team will play two games. Nepal will play its second match with the US on February 8 and the third match with Oman on February 9.
