‘Hopefully I Can Race For Another 10-11 Years’
Ahmad al Harthy, the 36 year old Omani star, has been keeping himself in good shape even during his off-season.
Following last year's success, Ahmad is confident that he still has a lot to deliver in his racing career.
Looking ahead to his 11th year of racing, Ahmad told Muscat Daily, “I think what is important is how one performs. Year is just a number. Racing really excites me and each new season keeps me motivated.
“I would like to continue, hopefully, for another 10-11 years to come. We have seen drivers compete for that long and even longer. It is not about trying to put a finish line. It is just about going how fast I can, being competitive and enjoying what I do.”
“The key is how I am performing and if I am able to continue and achieve success, there is no reason for me to think to stop racing. My sponsors have steadfastly supported me and I am happy that they have faith in me.”
Ahmad said, “I am honoured to fly Oman’s flag along with a younger group of racers like
Al Faisal al Zubair, Khalid al Wahaibi and Shihab al Habsi.
“I was very proud to watch two Omani drivers, Al Faisal and Khalid, compete in one race series for the first time in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East Series this season. I wish the trio all the best and hope motor sports in Oman will reach greater heights in the time to come.”
