Singer Amal Perera and 5 others deported from Dubai arrested at Sri Lanka airport
Six suspects including Singer Amal Perera, who were arrested in Dubai along with the underworld leader Makandure Madush, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake today after they were deported from Dubai last night.
The suspects arrived on SriLankan flight UL 226 from Dubai early this morning were taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department upon their arrival at the BIA, Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The suspects have been identified as Singer Amal Perera, Shelton Kalupahana, Mohamed Asmi, Dhammika Nuwan, Deepal Chaminda and Amila Prasanga.
They are now being questioned, the police said.
Dubai authorities on 5th February 2019 arrested 31 Sri Lankans including the underworld leader Makandure Madush, father and son duo musicians Amal Perera and Nadeemal Perera and actor Ryan Van Rooyen. Out of those arrested, 29 suspects have now been deported and arrived in the country.
Underworld leader Makadure Madush is still under the custody of Dubai authorities.
