Oman’s consumer watchdog seized thousands of items in July

 Almost 2,000 items have been confiscated and more than OMR7,500 recovered in the month of July, according to the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP).
 

 

“More than 1950 items were seized and more than OMR7550 were recovered to maintain the health and safety of the consumer, and the restoration of his rights,” according to the last report issued by the Department of Market Monitoring.

Fifty nine notices were received in July, along with 294 registered violations, according to the authority

“The violations were of various ranges including differences in prices, misleading offers and commercials, lack of explanatory data, poor storage, prices and other irregularities,” Hilal Al Ismaili, Director of the Market Monitoring Department, said. 

According to the Director, the inspection teams were able to confiscate 347 Meher / Royal cigarette packs, 297 rotten and expired products, 249chewing tobacco packages, 264 items containing skull and skeletal images, 444 non-conforming products and 346 products fake, imitated, and other infringing products.
