Work on water recharge dam project continues
The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources continues with execution of the underground water recharge dam project at Wadi Al Oyun in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi in North Al Sharqiya Governorate as part of the Ministry’s efforts for optimal utilisation of rainwater and supply of underground wells with water and in preservation of underground water to feed underground reservoirs and protection of some areas from the risk of floods.
The construction of the dam is aimed to further develop the water resources of Al Oyun area and adjacent areas through recharge of underground reservoirs in the villages of the wilayat.
The construction works percentage amounted to 42. The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources has completed all geotechnical works, the protection works and the foundations works among other works. The dam has a capacity of 734,000 cubic metres. The length of the dam is 1,860 metres with a maximum height of 5.5 metres.
Work is also ongoing for the construction of the underground water recharge dam at Wadi Al Saleef in the Wilayat of Ibri in the Governorate of Al Dhahirah. The underground water recharge dam at Wadi Al Saleef has a capacity of about one million cubic metre. The length is 3.2 kilometres and height 8. 6 metres. The completion percentage is 32%.
