SANITISATION, INSPECTION DRIVES CONTINUES IN MUSCAT MUNICIPALITY

Muscat Municipality is undertaking several measures to check the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as intensifying its inspection campaigns to ensure public health.

Muscat Municipality said it has intensified efforts to continue sterilisation and disinfection operations in various public places and residential neighbourhoods, to reduce the spread of the virus. The sterilisation programme will continue to include other areas in Muscat, it said.

A statement issued online by Muscat Municipality said: "During a week, Muscat Municipality implemented 4,254 inspection visits to follow up on commercial activities in Muttrah. Where 8 stores were closed, 7 violations were found, and 16 reports were sent."

The municipality pointed out that: "The inspection visits included 909 food stores, 1952 restaurants and cafes, 920 barber shops and salons, 30 gyms and health clubs, 403 laundry shops, 26 sheeshah cafes and 14 other activities."

‘The municipality is keen to provide a healthy and safe environment at all times, within a specific action plan that guarantees the safety of community members, and the safety of public facilities,’ the statement added.
