Rise in number of road accidents in Oman in June

Over 200 road accidents occurred in Oman during June, which resulted in 50 deaths, according to a National Center of Statistics and Information (NCSI) report.

NCSI's monthly report revealed that a total of 210 accidents occurred in June as compared to 180 accidents in May.

60 per cent of the accidents happened at night, NCSI's data revealed.

According to NCSI's data: “These accidents resulted in 50 death of which 33 of the deceased were Omani nationals and 17 were expats, whereas a total of 240 people were injured, of which 178 were Omani nationals and 62 were expats."

The figures released by NCSI show that, Muscat Governorate witnessed the most accidents in June - with 23 per cent, followed by Al Dakhiliyah with 16.2 per cent and Al Batinah north Governorate with 11.9 per cent.
