PDO signs memorandum with Ministry of Education
Muscat: The Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with the Ministry of Education and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences to sponsor the education of 50 students in teaching so they can return to work in schools in their local towns and villages.
PDO said in a statement, "The move comes as part of the Tawteen initiative, which was launched in 2016 with the aim of supporting human capital development and increasing employment opportunities in some of the more remote parts of the country. The initiative provides a four-year teacher scholarship and the total number of Tawteen students sponsored by PDO now stands at 225 from a total number of 450 students since the start of the programme."
