Oman to receive 20% of COVID-19 vaccines this year
Muscat: Oman will receive 20 per cent of the COVID-19 vaccinations by the end of the year, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs informed.
"We have knocked on all the doors and many companies showed their readiness to offer the vaccine. The Sultanate joined the International Vaccine Federation, and we will provide 10 per cent of vaccines before the end of this year and we will receive the other 10 per cent from the rest of the companies so that we have 20 percent of the population’s needs,” he said.
However, as priority, the vaccines will be used for frontline workers. "These vaccines will be given to health workers, the army and the police, who deal with citizens in the first lines," Al Hosni added.
