Muscat: Oman embassy in Turkey issues Georgia travel clarification
Muscat: Oman's embassy in Ankara has put out a statement on its Twitter account regarding what has been circulated about the Georgian authorities returning Omani citizens and not allowing them to enter, for no reason.
The embassy said that that "states have the authority not to allow in different cases individuals to enter their territory without showing or explaining the reasons,"
Georgia operates under mechanisms that the tourist must abide by, from leaving for their country until their arrival, which are:
1. To have the permission to enter Georgian territory, and now most countries use authorize it online.
2. To have a valid passport.
3. To be covered by health insurance while in Georgian territory
4. To have agreed with an accredited tourist company to ensure the reservation of hotel and travel.
"Many individuals do not perform such procedures, but simply book a ticket and leave the country without coordination with tourism companies in Georgia or others, often relying on individuals residing in Georgia which could lead to involving them problems and cases of and fraud," the embassy said.
The statement added, "We hope that the residents will abide by the procedures of the countries that they indent to spend their holidays in."
