Municipality destroys soft drink cans, bottled water

The Food Inspection team at the Muscat Municipality conducted raid on a residential house in Al Khuwayr area on the basis of a complaint recently. The raid was conducted in association with the ROP.

The complaint alleged that a residential house was being used as a storehouse for foodstuff items to carry out illegal commercial activities. The foodstuffs were also stored in unhygienic conditions. As part of the raid, the inspection team destroyed about 2,016 cans of soft drinks and bottled drinking water.

Legal measures in accordance with the provisions of Muscat Municipality’s Administrative Decision 55/2017 have been initiated. The Muscat Municipality is monitoring all commercial activities related to public health and ensuring they are being conducted in compliance with the municipal laws.

It is also monitoring that the establishments follow the health requirements set out in the Local Order for the Protection of Public Health (1/2006). It has also urged consumers to report any illegal activities either through its call centre 1111 or through social networking pages or the Baladiyeti app.
