Moon not sighted in Oman, Eid holiday set
Moon sighting committees in Oman have not been able to see the Dhul Hijja moon for AH1440, according to Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
The main committee of the Hilal Vision Survey for 1440 announced that the crescent is not confirmed. This means that the first day of Dhul Hijja, 1440 will fall on Saturday, August 3rd, and that the first day of Eid Al Adha will fall on Monday, August 12.
According to the Department of Astronomical Affairs at the ministry, moon sighting committees had 28 minutes after sunset to view the moon, which they were unable to do.
