Indian School Muscat’s Vice-Principal receives CBSE teachers’ award
Muscat: The Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on 12 September, conferred the CBSE Teacher’s Awards for 2018-19 on 34 teachers and principals at a ceremony held at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi.
The Vice-Principal (Primary Section) and advisor to the principal of Indian School Muscat (ISM), Ms. Priya Murali was also conferred this prestigious award. She was felicitated for her meritorious and distinguished services in the field of education for the academic year 2018-19.
In a statement, the ISM said, “Ms. Priya Murali has been with ISM since 2001 and has worked for the cause of students, teachers and institution at large. The Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman , Mr. Munu Mahawar congratulated Ms. Priya Murali for her achievement and stated that she has brought laurels to whole of Oman . He also congratulated the management and staff of Indian School Muscat for providing quality education to the Indian diaspora.”
The Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools – Sultanate of Oman, Dr Baby Sam Saamuel said, "She was the only awardee from the entire GCC. This award would inspire, motivate and help teachers in the Indian schooling system to emulate and dedicate themselves to the cause of education."
The award comprises of a certificate of commendation, cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a shawl . The awards were given by the Indian Union Minister for Human Resource Development- Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'. Mr. Sanjay Dhotre, Indian Minister of State for Human Resource Development was the 'Guest of Honour' at the event.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Chauhan , Principal - Indian School Muscat said that he was elated at her receiving the highest award from the CBSE. “She was the first Vice- Principal among the Indian Schools in Oman to be a recipient of this award and the entire school is very proud of her,” he said.
