Earthquake recorded near northern Oman coast

According to the Sultan Qaboos University's Earthquake Monitoring Centre: An earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter Scale was recorded off Oman's northern coast at around 8:33 am on Tuesday morning,

The epicentre of the earthquake was near Musandam and close to the coastal town of Dibba, which is situated on the northern tip of the eastern Arabian Peninsula.

 

An official at the centre said that the earthquake did not have any effect on Oman.

No tsunami alert has been issued in Oman.

Two other earthquakes near Oman have been recorded in the past two months: The first, measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale, had been recorded off the coast of Oman on December 19, 2017, around 320 kilometres from Duqm.

Another earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale was recorded last Friday, (January 19, 2018), with the epicentre around 290 kilometres south of Salalah.
