Diam inaugurates smart water meters in Oman
Muscat: The Public Authority for Water "Diam" has inaugurated a project for smart water meters, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
A statement issued online by Diam said, "The smart meters project is the first of its kind in the Middle East and will provide a qualitative leap to calculate the water consumption bill by applying the new system by reading water meters remotely, after which the electronic bill will be issued based on a real reading."
In addition, the project contributes to rationalising consumption as the subscriber can obtain consumption information every hour.
"This enables the subscriber to compare consumption in the event of an internal leakage. One of the advantages of the smart meter is that it deduces the estimated readings and sends instant messages when there is a sudden leakage problem in the house and facilitates maintenance work and follow-up faults."
These smart meters also have advantages in reducing customer complaints regarding high consumption and updating subscribers' data through the Diam portal
