Customs foils two bids to smuggle illegal tobacco, cigarettes
Large amounts of contraband tobacco and cigarettes were seized by Oman Customs.
One attempt was foiled by the Al Wajajah port customs. In a statement the department said, “Al Wajajah port customs prevented the smuggling of tobacco hidden tightly in a vehicle's engine and the backup tyre.”
Meanwhile the Department of Investigation and Risk Assessment seized another batch of prohibited tobacco and cigarettes. “The Department of Investigation and Risk Assessment, raided a site for expats workers, which stored and distributed prohibited cigarettes and tobacco. The department seized the items and arrested the suspects,” a statement by the customs department read.
