Air fares to rise Prices of airline tickets in Oman
Muscat: Prices of airline tickets in Oman could soon cost more as a result of oil prices increasing, according to SalamAir Chairman Khalid bin Hilal Al Yahmadi.
In a statement on Twitter, Al Yahmadi said, "The rise in the price of oil has a direct and significant impact on airlines this year, which forces airlines to raise the price of tickets at a limited rate in the coming period."
"Jet fuel represents a large proportion of the operating costs of airlines," he added.
His statement comes as the price of Omani crude continues to remain in the USD70 range, with Dubai Mercantile Exchange reporting that the May 28 marker price for the July 2018 shipment of Omani crude fell to USD73.62 a barrel.
