NBO Showcases Staff Sporting Stars
National Bank of Oman (NBO) has recognized the noteworthy accomplishments of six of its staff who are amongst the country’s most accomplished sports talents, during the Bank’s annual iftar. The initiative was introduced as part of NBO’s commitment to make a positive impact on the community by supporting sports engagement nationwide, and encouraging its own employees to cultivate skills outside of the workplace.
“At NBO we believe that personal aspirations matter just as much as professional, and this is something that’s embedded in our culture. We promote an environment that nurtures and celebrates achievement and actively encourage our employees to realise their goals,” said Musallam Kashoub, Head of Human Resources at NBO, “We are immensely proud of the talent that exists within our workforce and of the outstanding example they are setting to the youth of Oman.”
Kashoub added that the gathering was a perfect opportunity to showcase the inspirational sportspeople at the bank. The stars included bodybuilder Bilarab Al Salami who won first place in the Oman Open Bodybuilding and Physique Championships 2019, first prize in the West Asian Men’s Bodybuilding Championship and came fourth in the World Bodybuilding Championship. Weightlifting champion Saeed Al Marhoobi garnered 2nd place in the West Asian Weightlifting Championship and is set to represent Oman in the World Master Championship. Rally driver Issa Al Wardi earned 1st place in the Qatar National Rally, while hockey player Atta Al Maqdasi represented Oman as part of the senior team in the Senior World Championship in Spain. Snooker professional Jalal Al Lawati represented Oman in the World Snooker Championship and adventurer Intisar Al Burtamani demonstrated remarkable strength participating in an Everest base camp expedition
In collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Affairs, NBO actively assists Oman’s athletes, helping to promote home-grown talent and a healthy sports culture in the community. NBO has realized very early the shared values between banking and sports.
