Manchester United set to agree new deal with superstar
David De Gea has time and been labelled as the best keeper in the world and his performances for Manchester United this season has been nothing but outstanding. The Spaniard is a huge reason why Manchester United are still in the top four in the Premier League and still stand a chance of qualifying for the last eight of the Champions League.
And now United want to repay their faith in the goalkeeper by handing him a new contract that would make him the highest paid keeper in the world. If reports from The Times is to believed, the 27-year-old is close to inking a new deal at Old Trafford.
According to the report, talks on a contract for the keeper had already begun at the end of last season with the keeper whose current one ends in the summer of 2020. De Gea has been reportedly given an offer sheet that will see him earn 220,000.
The talks so far has been said to have been fruitful and he is likely to stay with United for the foreseeable future – warding off interests from Real Madrid.
Who do Real turn to?
Real’s admiration of De Gea has been an open secret and it took a faulty fax machine a few years back from sealing a return to his native Spain. If De Gea indeed signs on the dotted lines of a new contract, be sure to find Thibaut Courtois being the subject of major transfer speculations going forward.
The Belgian, who came to the fore thanks to his performances for Atletico Madrid has long been linked with a move to Real. And with De Gea out of the reckoning, the Blancos are sure to turn a more than curious eye towards the Chelsea custodian.
