Did You Know The First Time Virat Kohli Met Sachin Tendulkar He Dived At His Feet For He Thought It Was A Team Ritual?

Virat Kohli is slowly making his own legacy in Team India and has well moved beyond the shadow of Sachin Tendulkar. 

Once called the Master Blaster's successor, he has clearly proved to be much more than a sequel. However, the day these two met is one which is clouded in humour. Kohli actually dived at Sachin's feet to pay his respects! Why? Because he thought it was a tradition for rookie cricketers in the Indian team.

In a recent show called Breakfast with Champions, Kohli revealed how the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Munaf Patel had instigated it.

They told him that every new player would touch the icon's feet as a form of blessing and Kohli thinking it to be true did just that. Sachin was caught off guard and demanded to know what was happening. Once the truth came out our future skipper realised it was a prank.

Now, almost 10 years later that youngster is leading the side, Sachin has retired while those who played the prank are very much around in domestic cricket.

But it was a funny way for the teacher and student to meet. In the next decade Kohli would go on to smash records almost at will and is certainly the best batsman in the world right now across all formats.
