Qatar’s Advisory Council discusses draft law on Permanent Residency ID
The winds of changes are blowing hard and fast in Qatar and many positive developments have emerged in the country in the last few weeks.
A few months ago, Qatar made waves by announcing they were looking into the issuance of permanent residency card for expatriates, provided they met some criteria. The country’s expatriates had also welcomed the move wholeheartedly.
However, as with any major decisions, there were people who were sceptic whether the plan would go ahead. Such sceptics should rest east as the law has gotten one step closer to being passed.
This is because Qatar’s Advisory Council discussed a draft law on the Permanent Residency Identification Card at its regular weekly session chaired by HE the Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, according to Gulf Times.
The Council decided to refer the draft law to the Council’s Internal and Foreign Affairs Committee for further study and a report.
The Committee, which began to study the draft law on ‘Permanent Residence ID Card’, decided to continue its deliberations in its next meeting, reported The Peninsula.
