Have you ever been a Spy? Now, You will pay for it!

Yes, if you ever been spying on your spouse's phone, trying to be a detective, chances are that you will be behind the bars soon.

On Monday, the Saudi government announced new privacy laws that criminalize phone spying between spouses.

Sources say this decision is influenced by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud meeting U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the United Nations headquarters in the Manhattan borough of New York City, in the last month.

"Married individuals planning to spy on their spouse in Saudi Arabia will need to think twice, because such an action could potentially attract a fine of 500,000 riyals ($133,000), along with a prison term for a year," a statement, released by the Saudi government on Monday, read.

The law is part of a wider information security initiative that came into force last week. It was put in place to "preserve the rights of internet users, as well as to protect the morals of individuals and society," the Gulf kingdom's information ministry said.
