Conditions and documents required for family visa in Qatar

The Ministry of Interior has outlined a set of conditions that must be met for the successful issuance of a Family Residence Visa. 

Qatari authorities regulate the entry, exit and residence of expats in the country under the auspices of Law No. 4/2009. The law allows expats to bring in their families on residence visas on satisfying all the conditions set out by the law. The conditions are:

 

1) All applicants must hold valid residence permits.

2) All applicants must prove their married status by producing a valid marriage certificate attested by a competent authority. 

3) The applicant should be in possession of family housing or recipient of family housing allowance from his employer, the employer must be a Government or a semi-Govt. entity.

4) All applicants working for a Government or a semi-Govt. entity should be in possession of an official letter confirming their profession and salary. 

5) Applicants employed by the private sector must be in technical or specialized a position that is non-labour professions.

6) Salaries of applicants working in the private sector must not be less than QR 10, 000 or QR 7, 000 plus a family housing space. Previously the salary requirement was QR 12, 000. 

7) Applicants working in the private sector must produce a six month bank statement from any accredited bank to prove his salary. The requirement has been reduced by three months; previously applicants were required to produce a 9-month bank statement.

8) Private sector employees should also submit a notarized copies of their employment contracts to prove their profession along with copies of educational certificates to authenticate their qualifications. 

The following documents must be attached with the application form:

A copy of the sponsor’s ID Card.

A copy of valid passport of the person applying for the visa. 

Certified copies of the marriage contract and birth certificates of the children.
