Boarding a long-haul flight? Remember these 3 things
Your trip is all planned, you're nearly packed and the excitement of your travels has begun to kick in. Everything is in order, but there's just one thing standing between you and the stellar vacation spot you're about to hit up - the hours you're going to spend in the air. Your air travels can be made easier if only you avoid some common mistakes people often make. The last thing you want at the very beginning of your holiday is to be uncomfortable at 40000 feet. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you jet-set towards your holiday on a long-haul flight.
1. Get Adequate Sleep The Night Before
A common mistake people often make before boarding a long-haul flight, especially one that is scheduled for early morning, is pulling an all-nighter. Trust us when we say this - that is easily the worst thing you can do to yourself. You might think it'll make it easier for you to sleep on the flight or even help you ward off some of that jet lag, but it really can backfire. Not sleeping the night before your flight can actually confuse your internal sleep clock even more, leaving you feeling groggy when you finally arrive at your destination. You will end up wasting your entire first day just catching up on sleep. It feels close to being hungover, and that's just not how you want to feel on the very first day of your holiday.
2. Avoid Eating Salty or Heavy Foods
Eating a heavy breakfast at one of the fast food restaurants at the airport can seem tempting, but it might not be the best idea. Fast food is laden with sodium - and sodium can have a dehydrating effect. Air travel already dehydrates your body and interferes with your circulation. So eating food high in sodium
3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Hydrating before, during and after a flight is absolutely essential. Sitting in a closed cabin, with controlled climate and air temperature for hours will dehydrate you. Drinking water will help immensely in the way you feel overall while travelling by air. So don't be afraid to load up on some H2O out of fear of using the lavatory too many times.
content just before travelling will just push that further. Ever noticed how your hands and feet swell up on a long flight? You might have sodium and lack of water to blame.
