The higher resolution image will be stored on iCloud and whenever you go to look at the picture it will download from the cloud.

All you have to do is go to your settings and scroll down to the photos app, then you will see the option ‘Optimise iPhone Storage’ on the menu.

Enter settings on the iPhone, click on the browser and then choose clear cookies.
