Change your WhatsApp settings
When you download WhatsApp the app has a default setting of saving all the media sent into a chat to your memory.
So you have the picture or video in your WhatsApp memory and again in your phone memory.
All you have to do is enter WhatsApp and click settings, then chats and then chose to not save media automatically to camera roll.
Also, check out how much memory a chat is costing you by clicking the chat name at the top of the conversation, and there you can decide to clear the chat’s media in order to free up memory on your phone.
Weed out the wasters
Visit the storage section of your iPhone where all your apps and the memory they occupy are listed.
Your apps take up the majority of space on your phone no matter what, as the app itself requires memory and then the data which the app holds occupies memory.
There are plenty of apps that automatically download to your phone that occupy way more space than they need to.
Each app will give you the breakdown of how much memory the app itself takes up and how much the data within the app takes up.
Here is where you might look out for the download music or videos in apps like Spotify, Netflix, music, podcasts etc.
If you have listened to an album to death you should clear it from your saved music.
You might be surprised at how much memory your messages and emails take up and may consider doing a cull.
Some apps take up memory and you don’t even use them – If only I had a pound for every fitness app I downloaded and then didn’t use.
