Woman Mistakenly Buried Alive Tried To ’’Fight Her Way Out Of Sealed Coffin’’
Santos had previously suffered from fainting spells since childhood and took anti-convulsive medication.
Santos was only waked on the evening of the day she had died and was then laid to rest in a local cemetery in her hometown of Riachao das Neves. But on February 9th, which is 11 days after Santos was buried, locals began hearing noises coming from her tomb.
Residents who lived along the street facing the cemetery reported hearing muffled screams, banging, and groaning. A local woman explained, “When I got there right in front of the tomb, I heard banging from inside it.”
“I thought the kids who play around the cemetery were playing a joke on me. Then I heard her groan twice, and after those two groans she stopped.”
The frantic moment when Santos’ tomb was smashed and her coffin was opened was recorded by an onlooker. Locals can be heard shouting “She’s still warm” while touching her foot. To see the shocking footage for yourself, click on the video below:
The police were called but Santos had not only been nailed inside a heavy wooden coffin, but she was also encased in a stone tomb. Locals and family members smashed open the tomb and forced the coffin open only to find that they were moments too late.
