These are the Safest Seats to Take on a Plane, Claims Research
Seats in the back of the plane.
At the trailing edge of the plane, the survival rate is 69%, the seats near wings and coach have 56%, while the places in the front have only 49% of the survival rate.
The second analysis was done in the year 2015 by Time.
Researchers at TIME went through 35 years of FAA data found the similar results. The only thing different in this research was the sample size. The researchers narrowed their study and limited it to 17 accidents dating back to 1985. These crashes saw both, survivors and fatalities.
Time found out that:
The tail end of aircrafts had the lowest fatality rate, only 32%. Seats on the front side the plane saw 38%of fatalities, while overwing 39%.
However, TIME researchers claim:
The circumstances in which plane crashes may affect these averages, but in a more prominent picture; the back of the plane is a place to be.
