A Peruvian Oasis Town in the Middle of the Driest Places on Earth is as Amazing as it Sounds
You’d think it is a mirage—but it is real!
The desert is an arid, dry place, and most of us don’t want to be there. The extremely hot weather in the afternoon is exchanged with extreme cold at night. Occasional strong gusts of wind can leave you covered in sand, not to mention the vast emptiness without neighbors and other people to talk to.
But once you see this oasis in the Peruvian desert, you’d probably pack your bags and live there!
The magical town is called Huacachina, and it can be found not only on adventurers’ bucket lists, but also in a barren desert in Peru.
Huacachina is a desert oasis and tiny village just west of the city of Ica in southwestern Peru. At its center are the green waters of the Huacachina Lagoon, ringed by palm trees and thought to have therapeutic properties. The lagoon’s shores are dotted with bars and clubs. Dune buggies run across the high, rolling sand dunes surrounding the village.
