Top 5 Character Products That Made Marvel Even Richer

It should be no shock to anyone, but here it is…*ahem*…Marvel makes much more than a metric ton of money! The company pulls in billions of dollars every year thanks to how much we all love the latest comic book hero film, or book, or toy, or game, and the list goes on. They make money all across the board. That being said, not all of the Marvel products in the world are still bringing in money for Marvel.

Don’t get me wrong, the movies and the latest products are definitely raking in the dough. But there are some items that have had time to age a bit and are now bringing in thousands of dollars to those willing to sell. This includes prototype toys, old school convention passes with LEGO mini characters, and so on.

This list has a number of older items that are now going for tons of money, as well as some of the highest grossing films, and some items you wouldn’t expect to see. It’s super helpful to Disney that they not only own the MCU but even the FOX/Marvel universe now.

1. The Avengers – $1.5 Billion

Now, this doesn’t mean each individual Avenger is actually bringing in as much as every other. Realistically, some of the Avengers are bringing in much more for Marvel than the rest. But The Avengers as a film brought in $623 million domestically. That means before even going global! That’s insane.

Then when you tack on Blue Ray sales and international releases…I’m certain that just The Avengers alone is probably bringing in well over a billion dollars to Marvel. In case you didn’t know, a billion dollars is many, many, many, thousands all thrown together to make millions…which are then gathered together to make a billion! I guess when you get the right superheroes and the right actors at the right time, you make more money than you know what to do with.

2. Spider-Man – $1.3 Billion

Three years ago, Marvel sold more than $1.3 billion worth of Spider-Man products! That is insane! It doesn’t even matter which products they were selling. That includes the films, toys, games, costumes and so on. Over one billion dollars! I can’t even imagine having a tenth of that money. I mean…I can imagine it, but I’m not likely going to ever touch that much money.

Anyway, imagine how much Spider-Man is making now! There is a new video game out, which is where this still above is from, where you will guarantee see it bringing in a bunch of money for Marvel. There is a new movie out (which did amazingly well at the box office). I would not be surprised if that $1.3 billion number ended up going over $2 billion. I would not be in the least bit shocked about that sort of growth. This is all just from one solo superhero! Eat your heart out Iron Man!
